The Aquatic Centre boasts a swimming pool of 50 m x 18 m which is Olympic size. The pool is divided by a mobile wall, which divides it into two equal sections measuring 25 m x 18 m. At the deep end, the depth is between 2 – 5 meters. There are platforms available at 3 to 5 metres and 10 meters.

Lifejackets or kick boards can be borrowed at no cost.

We are delighted to welcome students into our facilities. We have created a number of new procedures to ensure your safety. Please ensure that you read these procedures before you visit any of our facilities. All campus rec’s offerings can be found here. Virtual programming will be offered. The pool will be reopened for students and employees. Students will be unable to use other facilities until further notice because of our reduced capacity.

Lane swims

Lane Swim (25m)

All abilities are welcome to lap-swim. Participants must be 16 years old or older, or accompanied 16-year-olds. Swimmers may not be able swim in the shallow end.

Lane Swim (50m)

All abilities are welcome to lap-swim. Participants must be 16+ or accompanied by an adult 16+. Swimmers may not be able swim in the shallow end.

Leisure Swim

Participants of all abilities and ages are welcome. The shallow end is suitable for lane swimming. The deep end can be used for lane swimming. There is also a relaxation area and diving space.

All children 7 years old and under must be supervised by an adult.

Women’s swimming (25m)

This swim period is only for women

Procedures and Policies

  • All participants below 10 years of age must have a wristband in order to swim.
  • No matter how competent they are at swimming, children younger than 7 years must be supervised by an adult of 16 years or more.
  • Children younger than 10 years of age who cannot swim or fail the facility test must have someone 16 years or older supervise them.
  • In the facility, children between the ages of 11 and 15 must be accompanied in their entirety by an adult who is 16 years old or older.
  • Non-swimmers and those who cannot pass the facility swim test are not advised to swim in shallow waters. This is the maximum number that one person can supervise.

Severe Health Conditions

Users of our facilities must be able exercise or participate in other activities. Anyone with a medical condition that restricts their ability to participate in physical activities must take the necessary safety precautions. An adult must accompany a person with a serious medical condition. They should be familiar with the condition and responsible for supervising them.

Patrons using this facility are responsible to their own safety. The University of Ottawa is not responsible for any injuries or risk that might result.

Only one-time pool access

If you are not a member of Sports Services, you can buy a $5.00 pass to gain access to the pool. You can purchase your day pass at any of the participating venues.

1 month access to the pool

You can buy a 1-month Basic/Aquatic Membership for $40.00. This membership grants you access the pool and drop-in activities. For more information, visit our membership page or our Client Services desk.

Swimming Lane Etiquette

  • Follow the lane instructions.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure that swimmers in front of you are not drowned if you pass.
  • Don’t give up at the end.
  • If you have to stop, please use the corner.
  • It is important to pass the majority of swimmers. It’s time to change lanes.
  • Swimmers should not pass you. It’s time to change lanes.
  • Adjust your swimming lane daily. Your swimming speed will depend on who is swimming.
  • Please don’t be offended if the lifeguard directs your to another pool lane. Safety is our number one priority.
  • Ask your lifeguard any questions.
